High Stakes Writing & Crisis Communication Counsel
Beth Hallisy is a seasoned crisis communications strategist and writer.
She has counseled clients through M&A activity, downsizings, restructurings, security (data) breaches, corporate misconduct, product recalls, labor disputes/strikes, protests, accidents, enterprise system/process changes, and other high-stakes situations. Her crisis work has been recognized with two national awards and several local and regional awards.
Work product includes plans, standby/contingency statements, key messaging, Q&As, news releases, news briefs, position papers, remarks, customized stakeholder communications, video scripts, website content, social media content, and mission/vision/values documents.
Over the years, Hallisy has worked for technology startups, professional service firms and trade organizations, as well as major healthcare, consumer products, business to business and nonprofit brands. Hallisy was a partner of Marcus Thomas in 1993 and continues to consult with the firm on a part-time basis. Previously, Beth was public relations account manager at Fleishman-Hillard, Cleveland; director of community affairs for Summa Health System, Akron; technical editor at URS architectural and engineering firm, Cleveland; and director of development and public relations for Villa Angela-St. Joseph, Cleveland.
She currently serves as consultant to Hennes Crisis Communications.
A recipient of six national Silver Anvil awards, Beth is a Fellow and accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America, and a recipient of PRSA-Cleveland’s president’s award and Cleveland PRSA’s Lighthouse Award for career achievement and community service.
She has served on the national executive committee of PRSA Counselors Academy and as a local PRSA chapter officer. She is a graduate of Leadership Cleveland and has served on the Corporate Council of the Cleveland Museum of Art and on the boards of Achievement Centers for Children, Boys Hope Girls Hope, the Center for Community Solutions, and Villa Angela Saint Joseph High School. She holds a master’s degree from John Carroll University and a bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University. She also has completed graduate work at Cleveland State University, the University of Michigan, Ursuline College and Cleveland Marshall Law School.
